We have received an interesting communication on behalf of an Italian association of vintage boats. They have bought a boat attributed to Maurice Griffiths called ‘Tinka’ but do not know much about her history. The boat sank in the port of Genoa in September 2014 and their intention is to restore her.
Maurice Griffiths did indeed design Tinka and she features in his book ‘Sixty Years A Yacht Designer’. She was built in 1951 by Staniland and Co at Thorne near Doncaster. We have scanned and emailed the appropriate pages to our contact with the offer of sending him a spare copy of the book which our President happens to have on his bookshelf. The photo on the left is taken from the book.
We would be grateful if anyone can help with any further information, photographs and documents about Tinka’s history, or information about her previous owners, so that we can pass this on to our contact.
You can see the story so far on their website at: http://www.veledepocaverbano.com/archivio-imbarcazioni/tinka-cutter-marconi/
